The House Judiciary Committee debated and voted on a resolution to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for not providing an unredacted copy of the Mueller report. As the hearing began, the White House said the President made a protective assertion of executive privilege. Committee Chair Jerry Nadler said, "this decision represents a clear escalation in the Trump administration's blanket defiance of Congress' constitutionally mandated duties." Ranking Member Doug Collins said the committee's action is "a cynical, mean-spirited, counterproductive, irresponsible step."
